AI helping to combat coronavirus

Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE)

Report on Supply Chain Compliance 3, no. 7 (April 2020)

The possibility of an overwhelming burden on health care facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic has given companies developing commercial artificial intelligence (AI) solutions an opportunity to show their quality. AI can help sort through medical files and potentially identify patients in need of critical care, or patients who may contract the coronavirus.

Persivia Inc. is one company highlighted in the media as having technology that could prove useful in the days to come.

“ We’re in the business of supporting hospitals who have patients showing up that may have suspect cases,” said Mansoor Khan, Persivia’s chief executive.[1] “When you have hundreds of patients that start showing up, God forbid, the game changes. …You need an automated system to quickly triage them and make sure care resources go to the right person.”

AI can also help quickly sift through and categorize contracts according to specific search criteria, as well as various other supply chain applications.[2]
